| Drummondville | René Désilets Murdered on March 22, 1975

Read Time:1 Minute, 3 Second

On March 22, 1975, around 5 a.m., René Désilets was found dead on St-Georges Street in Drummondville. This place, isolated, was surrounded by rather dense trees on each side of the road.

The investigation allowed us to know the whereabouts of Mr. Désilets until 3:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, about thirty minutes before the crime. The motive for the crime seems to be theft, since his wallet containing a good amount of money has disappeared.

The victim was hit by several .22 caliber bullets and when discovered, three screwdrivers were also piercing his body.

René loved billiards and had played Friday night at the Motel 400, where he apparently won. He was self-employed in the sale of tools for garages and had two employees. The 36-year-old man had been married for over 10 years and had a 3-year-old daughter. Of note, the victim’s truck was parked on the shoulder, near where the body was discovered.
