On November 1st, 2025, we experienced a memorable dive in freezing cold weather. That day, we gathered for a unique exercise: the divers from MDIQ and the ROV from Aquadrone, our new partner. Together, we share the same mission: to be useful, and above all, to help bring missing persons home.
With the long-awaited summer for many Quebecers comes the visit of the American group Exploring With a Mission . We are doing everything possible to gather the best resources available in Quebec to be fully prepared when the 2026 search season begins.
It is in this context that Aquadrone approached us to offer its collaboration in underwater searches. A few of our 18 volunteer divers from across the province had the opportunity to train with Aquadrone’s ROV in clear waters—an ideal environment to learn how to work together and understand the operation of this revolutionary tool.
In many of our lakes and rivers, where the waters can be impressively dark, the ROV becomes an invaluable ally. It can remain stable while a diver surfaces for a tank change or any other reason. Additionally, it allows for photographing, filming, and even providing the exact underwater position, thereby optimizing the efficiency of each mission.
The purpose of this collaboration is simple: to combine our strengths in order to have effective resources to find missing persons here in Quebec : exploring with a mission — to find the missing. In this effort, Aquadrone becomes an essential ally.
During this training session, we had to learn how to work together, to communicate between the depths and the shore. Functional and safety tests were carried out.

We need to raise $35,000 to acquire a Zodiac and its trailer, motor, battery, solar panel, and especially the sonars, which alone cost more than $12,000, in addition to the operating and travel expenses required to deploy the Zodiac across different regions of Quebec during the summer of 2026. Please be generous!
