On April 12, 2017, around 9 p.m., Hélène’s disappearance was reported to the police of the Saguenay city. Hélène was appreciated by all, and she lived in the Sainte-Thérèse district of the Arvida sector with her spouse and children. That morning, the 48-year-old woman had gone to the hospital of Jonquière, where she works, to provide a doctor’s note. She then went to the store Garage at the shopping center Place du Royaume. According to her immediate neighbor, she would have returned to her residence around 12:15 p.m.
Hélène has brown hair and blue eyes, and she may have been seen in the afternoon wearing a black North Face coat and a black toque. Around 6 p.m., one of the couple’s three daughters was worried that she could not find her mother at their home. Hélène does not appear to have brought her cell phone or wallet.
At the time of her disappearance, Hélène was preparing to visit her twin sister in Alberta. Her sister had sent her a first text message at 8:45 a.m. then a second at 12:45 p.m., because she was waiting for a confirmation from Hélène for the purchase of the plane ticket. This confirmation never came.
Her relatives are convinced that she would never have left without telling anyone, especially since she was very attached to her family.
Many searches have been carried out in the vicinity of the Saguenay River, particularly in the hiking areas where she used to walk. Furthermore, searches of the couple’s residence, of another property belonging to her spouse as well as of two vehicles belonging to Hélène’s relatives have yielded no results.
