On March 29th, 1975, around 7:15 pm, Sharron Prior left her home located in Pointe Saint-Charles to go meet with friends, including her boyfriend, at a nearby Pizza restaurant. It is unclear, however, if they were actually expecting her there. Even though the walk was only about 5 minutes, the 16-year-old never made it to the restaurant. It is reportedly around 1 am that Sharron’s mother started being worried and that searches began. On April 1st, Sharron’s body was found under a tree in a field, West of Guimond Boulevard and Chemin du lac, in Longueuil. It was about 12 km from Pointe Saint-Charles. The young girl has been sexually assaulted, beaten, and strangled to death, and her clothes were found around her. She was holding a branch in her hand. Some tape was found in her hair, leading us to believe that it was used to gag her mouth.
Several elements were found on the crime scene, such as an open padlock (the one locking the field’s gate), a shirt, tire marks and a footprint from a size 8 and a half shoe. The shirt is believed to have been worn by someone about six feet tall and weighing 200 pounds. The police also believed it was used to tie Sharron up.
It is believed that Sharron had been held captive, and that she was dead for about a day when her body was found.
This murder was officially solved on May 19th 2023, after 48 years.
