On March 7, 1992, 11-year-old Marie-Ève Larivière was strangled and sexually assaulted.
During a dinner with extended family members living on Beausoleil Street, in the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul neighborhood in Laval, Marie-Ève offered to go buy some bread a little before 7 p.m. As she was not from the area, her family gave her directions but she got lost and wound up at a different corner store on Desnoyers street. Marie-ève was last seen alive at that corner store around 7:45 p.m., where an employee made a sketch for her so that she could find her way back.
After hours of research, her clothed body was found early the following day beside a railroad track, in an industrial sector (near Côte St-François and St-Martin Boulevard) in Chomedey, about seven kilometers from where she went missing and less than one kilometer from the St-Vincent-de-Paul Penitentiary.
