On the afternoon of November 18, 1997, Sophie Champagne, 22, was found lifeless in her residence in Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan by her husband upon his return from work. She was stabbed several times and she was strangled. The murder weapon was also recovered from Ms. Champagne’s apartment.
