| St-Fabien de Panet | Lucie Castonguay Murdered on December 16, 1999

Read Time:1 Minute, 21 Second

Lucie Castonguay, 42, was found dead in her home by a neighbor on December 17, 1999. According to the police, the crime was committed on the night of December 14th to 15th. Without knowing the exact time she returned home, it is difficult to establish precisely when the crime was committed. However, the investigation shows that Lucie was killed when she walked in through the door. She was fatally struck in the head and stabbed in the thigh. The rooms in the house had been searched.

She was last seen alive on Tuesday December 14th at a religious gathering 45 minutes from her residence. She reportedly left a little before 9:00 p.m. saying she needed to meet someone for a job. However, this information could never be validated.

Seven days before the murder, Lucie officially divorced her husband of 20 years, who was “losing everything”. He was also the father of Lucie’s two sons, who were 17 and 20 at the time. According to them, Lucie had no enemies and no one was ever charged in this case. The investigator assigned to the case in 1999 has always been convinced that this mother had been murdered for a money matter.
