35-year-old Lucie Savard was found dead on March 16, 2015 in the shared toilets of the residence where her boyfriend lived. That evening, he and Lucie would have argued over a matter of drugs and syringes. Around 10:30 p.m., her boyfriend reportedly left, leaving Lucie alone at the apartment. He made the gruesome discovery around 1 a.m. on March 16th. Lucie was unconscious and lying on her stomach on the floor, with a bathrobe belt around her neck. She was bluish, stiff, and cold. Her legs were bent at the knees. It was at this time that her boyfriend went to the concierge to contact the police.
There was no trace of struggle, violence or infraction. The officers noted the presence of a six-inch end of a bathrobe belt stuck in the hinge at the top of the door. The other end was under the victim. According to the investigation, Lucie often had suicidal statements and had already made suicide attempts in the past. The coroner’s report shows that Lucie had several substances in her body at the time of her death, and concludes it to be a suicide. The presumed time of her death is 11:45 p.m., March 15, 2015.
Despite this, the family believes it could be murder. As she had substance abuse issues and was known to the police, the family believes they closed the investigation too quickly. Lucie’s ex, who was incarcerated at the time, said there were rumors she had robbed a drug dealer, or owed him a lot of money, and that he had potentially killed her for it.
