On June 25, 1986, around 10 or 11 a.m, a highway employee for the ministère des Transports discovered a body along Highway 30 west, in Saint-Hubert. The victim was identified as 29-year-old Annette Labelle. Her body was wrapped in a mattress, held tight by cords and electric wires. There was bloody fluid in the airways. Police believe she was murdered a few days before her body was discovered, since it was in an advanced state of decomposition. Also, according to the Sûreté du Québec police investigation, a motorist noticed the mattress on the roadside on June 21st. Annette’s personal effects were found by passers-by at the intersection of Highways 10 and 30.
Annette was last seen alive on June 19, 1986 at around 11:00 p.m., at the Café Rialto in Montréal. Apparently, Annette did not have a permanent address and briefly stayed with acquaintances, and she often frequented the central-east area in Montreal. She was 5″3 tall, weighed 145 lb. and had long dark brown hair. She had three tattoos: one on her left shoulder and two on her chest, including one with the name “André”.
