On August 21st, 2005, 17-year-old Marie-Pierre Bouchard, disappeared after leaving l’Évasion bar in Victoriaville. Around 3h10am, she asked a friend to wait for her 10 minutes, as she walked towards the parking lot behind the bar, but she never came back.
Police initially thought that Marie-Pierre ran away as her behaviour had changed over the preceding months. She had started using cannabis, she was involved in an attempted fraud at a bank machine. Also, Marie-Pierre worked at a Pizzeria in the same town but had not showed up at work for 3 days preceding her disappearance. Police do not believe this case is related to the drug trade.
September 11th, 2005, her purse was found on Vaillancourt road, in Compton in Estrie, 100 km from Victoriaville. Marie-Pierre’s body was found by children, near their home, on July 09th, 2006 in a wooded area on 2nd RR in Warwick, Quebec, 13 km away from her hometown. No marks of violence were apparent on her body. She was possibly strangled and probably sexually assaulted. It is not determined if the murder was committed where her body was found.
