On the morning of April 23, 1973, Lucie’s father drove his daughter and her friend (Guy Carignan) to the Couronne roundabout in Trois‑Rivières. The two friends planned to travel to Vancouver by hitchhiking.

Lucie Gélinas and her friend Guy Carignan were never seen again.

In 1973, Lucie was a student at the University of Trois‑Rivières, studying early childhood education.
