42-year-old Robert St-Louis, father of 5 children, went missing between 10h30pm and 12h30amfrom his home at 7130 17th avenue in Laval West on June 14, 1988. He measured 5 feet 8 inches (1, 74 m) and he weighed 145 pounds (66 kg), salt and pepper curly hair and blue eyes. He suffered from leg issues and had difficulty walking. Mr. St-Louis had spent the day and evening with his daughter, Nathalie. His behaviour appeared normal. He left her home at 10h30pm to return home. Mr. St-Louis’ wife arrived home at 12h30am and her husband was not there. She later noticed that his wallet was home, where he always left it. Mr. St-Louis disappeared with his truck, a 1980 beige Jeep Cherokee, plated: F468857, never to be seen or heard of again. The vehicle was also never found.
Mr. St-Louis worked as a Master Furrier for his own company, which he operated for the basement in the family home: Les Fourrures Robert St-Louis. He found his stock in the ‘’Fur District’’ in Montreal: Bleury street, St-Alexandre Street and Mayor Street.
The police investigation was unable to find any proof of any criminal involvement. They believe that Mr. St-Louis may have disappeared willingly.
Mr St-Louis may have been spotted by a bank teller on November 08th, 1988, at the Laurentian Bank at 3870 Notre-Dame Boulevard, in Chomedey, Laval, 3 months after his disappearance. The man wanted to get a personal loan, but he had no ID. He was therefore declined but said he would return the next day. The teller recognized him after seeing his picture in the newspaper a few hours later. The man never returned.
